If my driver side brake lights are out but the passenger side brake lights work can it still be the MFS Does the MFS split it up driver and passenger side
If it is your primary vehicle, order one and return it if you can get yours working properly. It really isn't particularly difficult, but then if you're unable to get it working you can just install the new unit and be out a little extra time.
I also would consider repairing my original switch following the above posted thread. If it cannot be repaired you can still replace it. I got an replacement AC Delco switch for $125.00 with free shipping. Mine was beyond repair.
I successfully did the repair. It lasted about a year and the problems returned. The repair is simply getting the switch open and bending some preload tension in the contact tabs. Like any metal each time it bends it gets weaker. Eventually that preload goes away. Ended up buying a new switch anyway.
R & R of the switch itself is not to difficult, if you feel like giving it a shot. For me, I'da rather not done it twice, shoulda just bought the switch.
