Default Turn Signal Mirrors?

My 04's driver side auto dimming mirror needs to be replaced and a new replacement (part# 12455610 through GMPartsDirect is ~$290). I'm not inclined to pay that much for a single piece of mirror glass, so I'm deciding between the non-dimming version (~$110) and a set of turn signal mirrors (~$225 for the pair).

Does anyone have experience with these replacement C5 turn signal mirror glass kits? Recommendations on which to buy?

It may be something else (electrical) unless your glass (plastic) is broken. Mine isn't working either but neither is the inside mirror. Tech said it's the outside mirror. I had the rear window tinted and wear yellow night glasses. I guess there would be some wiring work to put on turn signal mirrors.

The glass has turned brown (tint to it) and has double images (if I look back at vehicles behind me, I can see two vehicles superimposed on one another)).

I got em.

Here's my thread from back in 2007.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rors-pics.html

Photobucket is fucked so the pics are gone but if you'd like some I can get some new ones.

They were made by muthco, I don't know if they're still available.

I just replaced my 04 driver mirror glass yesterday. GM wanted $390 for the auto dim/heated. I used a heated glass pn 12530715 - msrp 149.22 and dealer sold it for 129.76. Eliminated the auto dim feature because it's just ridiculous to spend nearly $400 for a rear view mirror.

Was easy peasey but I've pressed glass in before so I was less anxious.

I looked up the part number and if I understand correctly, it's the heated version from an earlier year (pre-auto dim) correct? Did it have the backing plate and everything on it?

It is identical to the mirror you will take out except it will not have wires for the autodim. It will have the connections for the heater.

Backing plate is on it - it snaps in complete.

I replaced mine with MUTH Signal mirrors about 12 years ago - one of the best upgrades I made. They are heated, but not auto-dimming...

So do they make them custom (the writing on your mirror)?

That is just a $2.00 set of frosted stick-on letters you can buy on eBay.

Does the passengers side have the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" on it?

How well is it holding up and being it's overlayed to the original does it still defrost properly or does it take longer because of the 2 layers ?

You can get a new mirror glass off the auction site for your car for less than $15. You can move your heating pad off the old glass to the new pretty easily. You lose the auto dimming feature, but when I replaced mine, I never even missed that. If you want to spend more, that's ok. It's just money...

Is there a specific part number for this setup? So many darn listings on ebay and I don't want the kind that sticks on top of the existing mirror glass. I found this part no. which appears to be the right one.

part no. LB835

Mine's turning yellow and is on my list of winter fixes. $15 is better on the wallet for what it is.
