why doesn't trickle charger work in cigarette lighter
why do you suppose a working cigarette lighter wont work with a newer trickle charger? this would so you could back feed the battery to keep it charged. this is the kind of charger that is idiot proof and the leads don't energize unless it sees a circuit? do you suppose their are diodes some where in the ciragette lighter circuit?

What type of trickle charger do you have. I have a CTEK 3300 and with the use of the cigarette lighter adaptor I have been running it thru the cigarette lighter for the past 5 years. Whenever I don't anticipate using the car during the next week, I plug it into the cigarette lighter. No issues!
Many on this forum use the cigarette lighter as well.

so after looking at it more closely the cigarette lighter portion was from a solar panel charger that i thought looked similar i guess the two were not interchangable. the probes must not have made contact. i will actually test it later tonight

Is the cigarette lighter and Aux socket always "ON", or does the ignition switch have to be on to energize or connect them?

well turns out the cigarette lighter male probe must have an open circuit on the positive side

Thanks, but I didn't see the message in the tiny box at the top of the diagram.

"Sometimes I plug AC power inverter into console Acc connector and trickle charger into inverter then charger into cig lighter.'
"That's so strange that you can charge the battery using that battery."
What are you guys talking about?
You think you are getting free electricity? That cannot work, you are draining the battery down to power the inverter (very inefficient) creating 110VAC then trying to get 12V out of that to charge the battery? Are you serious? Or was that a joke? At least one member fell for it.
