hey guy’s my 99 recently started just making the sound it makes when u push the button on key fob or the open button in car but does not release or pop open the hatch....I pulled the cord opened it up and when u push the button u can see jaw open but it’s not opening I tried pushing down gently as friend said to no open...would this be actuator....what part does the pop on the open to cause hatch to pop up
Spray the latches with silicone grease until they come up properly. If the struts do not hold up the hatch, try lubing the strut bars.
For the hinges and latches on mine silicone spray didn't last very long and the issue returned. I used some Liquid Wrench White Lithium spray and it worked much better.
If you shut the door with the window up, does the hatch pop up a little bit? That’s how mine works. I have to shut the door and air pressure pushes the hatch up enough that I can grab it and raise it.
