Hey guys, strange question, but anyone found a source for paint to match interior colors? I build scale models, and am collecting kits/parts to replicate my 04 CE vert. I work for a Chevy store, so have ordered the exterior paint, but need a source to match the ‘shale’ top and interior. No luck from GM, and nothing available from NAPA, so, short of buying several cans of generic paint hoping for a match, I figured you all might know of a source. Any ideas?
Try Color Bond. I have used their Medium Dark Neutral (darker CE interior color) and it is a very good match. Have not needed the lighter Shale color yet:
Color Bond paint #153 = Medium Dark Neutral #156 = Shale
I agree with 8VETTE7!
I spent a bundle on SEM and other paints but only Color Bond actually matched the interior of my 50th Anniversary.
Pay attention to prep and always use an Adhesion Promoter before color and then clearcoat afterward.
I would try a hobby shop that specializes in model railroading. They have lines of paint that other shops won't have with very extensive ranges of colors and textures. In the past I was very big into model cars and also model railroading and learned to use supplies from both. There are some great RR paints. Also, if you have an exterior color you like, you can flatten it with talcum powder, or use flat clear.
Sorry for the late response, but thanks for the heads up on where to get what actually matches, even though it’s for a model, I may need it for the full size at some point.
thanks again everyone, and when I get the model built, I’ll post up a pic of the 1:1 and the 1/25 scale
