I see some C5 Corvettes have a side bar accent going through the side cove. Was that for certain years or models? Why do some have and some don't? Thanks!
I would like to have mine removed but I am not sure if the doors have been repainted in the past.
look at the creases behind the molding, if they have paint in them you can tell if they've been painted over.
If you heat them up they will peel off pretty easily, heat, rock edges back slightly, spray WD40, heat, rock, etc etc. To speed it up you can use fishing line to cut the tape.
The only people who need BSM are folks who drive their cars. Garage queens and show cars look better without that option. Who would want a practical option on a car only used as a foolish hobby?
BSMs for me really "date" the car in that they call back to when cars had distinctive belt lines. Not many modern vehicles have a visible "belt" line and typically use aesthetics of the vehicle's design itself to produce the same function and effect. For me a C5 without them gives them a slightly updated look.
Now on the other hand the pop-ups are the definitive dating factor of the car. Not saying I dislike them, but I don't try to imagine my C5 is any newer than it actually is when I'm reminded daily my headlamps have to pop out of a hidden housing.
I didn't notice them until after I bought my car (without them) and noticed a few with. I am glad mine were either removed or not installed, but that is just my opinion.
