I had an AE and it was a beautiful color combo. The two tone shale interior went well together and it wasn't such a contrast like black and oak or red.
My second choice would be mod red as most of it would be black with some red accent. I had a yellow ZO6 with mod red interior, felt like Ronald McDonald driving it.
Mine is black so I removed the console, gauge surround and door handle and had them hydro dipped. The pieces have a light gray base and a carbon like design. I also had new seat covers with gray stitching. The car is T-red and it worked out well.[/QUOTE]
Anything but grey! No offense to anyone with that color but I have a 95 Impala SS that I have had since new and grey was the only color you could have from the factory on the 94-96 Impalas. After living with it for 22 years and 207,000 miles, I promised myself no more grey for me. My ultimate C5 interior color would be torch red. I converted my all black interior to mod red a few years ago and have been quite happy with the change. I think black/oak would be my second choice.
White used to be a popular color, especially in convertibles but I don’t remember the last time I saw a Corvette with white guts.
Firethorn is that all-red-ish interior you've likely seen in photographs. It carries more of a maroon appearance in person. A lot of people like to have this interior paired with either a really light color or a color that wouldn't otherwise go with red (MY, blue, etc).
Mod red is what I usually call the "Z06 interior" as it's the two-tone black/red found in that trim.
Personally for me it's all black and I live in the South. Black doesn't show stains and it's actually VERY easy to clean. Every month I just go over everything with a static cling rag and it cleans it up nicely. I never use ArmorAll or similar products; soap & water and a 'lil elbow grease clean it much better that masking the car with ArmorAll.
Obviously I am prejudiced, but I love the look of the Shale / Neutral primarily because the dash is NOT black on the AE and CE. Definitely sets these two models apart from other C5's
When I started my search for a C5 Z06, I didn't realize there was a black/mod red combo available for the interior. I had just never seen one. When I saw some ads for C5's with that interior combo I was instantly attracted and told myself I will buy that combo. Hence my Black Z with black/mod red interior.
I looked for a car with a black interior because I knew before I got the car what I wanted to do to it. This is my take on a Black / Pewter interior. I plan on having the lower door panels, glove box door, and under the steering wheel panel all dyed Pewter to match the seats etc.

My favorite interior color is black with just a few subtle accents in red. Bit if I could do my interior over completely I would do it in Ferrari tan/beige. I really like that with red exteriors.
I have Firethorn and Black in our white car and like the contrast. Stripes are painted that match the interior colors. It was a nice change of pace from our standard red or black interiors.
Firethorn should have been made available throughout the C5 generation. It would have contrasted so well with many paint colors that were offered through the years. Firethorn is a nice subtle dark red that simply doesn't scream as loud as the Torch Red, which no one could mistake for being conservative or boring.
BTW, the modern version of Firethorn is making a bit of a comeback in the C7's ... it's called "Spice Red", not exact but somewhat similar...
