Is there an adaptor for 'plug in' ..... or any way to modify the OEM Bose stereo unit to accept bluetooth so I can play music from my iPhone? I want to keep the OE look, but would like better functionality.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. I'm no electronic wiz so wasn't sure what to even search for. I'm not exactly sure what I have .... just got the car. It does not have a cassette. It does have a CD I'll check out the option that have been provided. I'm not afraid to do some work to get a system that has good sound and functionality. So additional comments regarding quality and customer experience are appreciated.
Do you have the CD changer in the trunk? I think you need that from the factory for the CD changer/iPhone/pod cable to work. I have that in my car and it works great. Charges the phone too!
I'm fairly sure if your car is equipped with a remote 12 cd changer, the changer cable has to be disconnected from the back of the radio control head and the peripheral aux adapter plugged into the now empty aux cd plugin. If you do not have a remote cd changer, the cd aux plugin should be empty already. But I could be wrong about that.
The installation is fairly straightforward. You just have to remove the console and the radio control head. If you decide to use the aforementioned peripheral, it plugs into the aux/cd plugin. The peripheral will have to be set with rocker switches in the back of it to the car. A list is supplied with the unit.

If you have the CD Changer in the trunk you DO NOT have to pull the radio. iSimple makes a device that plugs into the changer harness in the trunk. It is called PXDX and you will need the PXHGM2 harness. That will allow you to tap into the audio system with a headphone type plug or get input to a red/white RCA plug.
For Bluetooth with handsfree calling you could try the Besign BK01 Bluetooth 4.1 Car Kit or the newer one BK03. We used the BK01 in our BMW and it worked well. You'll also need a female-female 3.5mm coupler to connect the Bluetooth device to the input. Or you could use the RCA inputs and connect it with an RCA to 3.5mm (female) adapter.

Good to know. I don't have the changer so I didn't have to think about it.

Not so, I use one in my 03 and it never had a rear CD changer.
