Targa Top
I only have the removable smoked glass top for my C5. Was wondering if anyone knew where someone could buy a used solid top. Color doesn't matter, I can always get it painted to match. I've checked with a few salvage yards, but no luck. Anybody??

The solid tops come up for sale here every now and then - just keep checking the C5 Parts for Sale/Wanted Section or make your own Wanted to Buy thread over there. Be advised that shipping the top comes with the risk of damage so if you go that route, ensure the seller has the top packaged and insured by the shipping company.

Did you check craigslist in your local area?
I bought a solid top from a guy 2 hours away from me a couple of years ago. He even met me half way. I picked it up. No shipping worries!

mine is on there and its the best of the bunch at a reasonable price but people still want it for literally nothing
most I see on Ebay are really expensive or really messed up and asking top dollar. If I was willing to ship I could have sold it 100 times.
to be honest with you when my wife needed one for her 02 she bought 2 online and both arrived damaged due to poor packing and UPS beating the snot out of the boxes....mostly due to halfass packing. She got her money back. I finally got her one from a guy in IN who drove to meet me in Bowling Green while I was up there for an event. I drove it home.
moral of the story....you may have to drive a bit to get a good one but it will be worth it. Ask for lots of good pictures beforehand. Be patient.

OK, then how about this? I'm in South Carolina and it gets damn hot in summer, how well does one of those static cling thingys work in keeping out the sun frying your brains through the glass top???

it works OK....not as good as a solid roof...
my opinion, you won't be happy with a clingy thing, you may be OK with the insert but I think you will want a solid top anyway.

Marc is a great guy and he sold me a perfect torch red one packaged really well that arrived undamaged. If I remember correctly, with shipping it was around $650. Don’t hold me to that quote though.

I'm really blown away by all the help I've received looking for this targa top. I've found 5 so far, unfortunately none Millenium Yellow. But if push comes to shove I can always get one painted. I can't thank everyone enough.
