I think the majority of C5 owners will recommend the MGW. I have one in my 02 and it is a good shifter. I have a B&M ripper shifter in my 99 and I like it too.

I didn't know you have one of each.. I have he B&M and love it to death but I'm very curious to drive an MGW equipped car.
Since its very relevant to the thread, how do you compare the two?
How was the installation? I have limited mechanical experience. Looking at YouTube the project looks straight forward. Box+shifter... any thoughts or hidden problems I should look for?
Thanks for the reply’s

really easy install. It took me more time to find where I misplaced the shift **** than it did to actually put in the shifter.
PS it had fallen under the seat and wedged completely out of sight
The MGW is an easy install. Their video is right on. I recommend getting the alignment tool with the kit. You can install with out it, but with it makes the job a no brainer.

I also had the B&M shifter in my 98, hated it. Took it out and replaced with a C6 Z06 shifter, much better. But, the 99 came with the B&M shifter too and I like it. Before you say I needed to adjust the B&M shifter in my 98, I did, and did , and did. Seem to help some but was still a no go for me. The previous owner did track the car and was a professional body builder so maybe he abused it.
I haven't put many miles on the 02 to give the MGW a real good review but so far I really like it. Both shifters are better than stock.
To the OP. The MGW is easy to install. Just be careful of the sound barrier stuff, that chit is sharp!

thats actually very interesting. I wonder if there was something wrong with your first B&M. Like I said, I went from thinking the c5 shifter feel was amongst the worst, to thinking it's one of my favorites out of any car I've driven.
I had the $59 Raco one from amazon/ebay for a bit. Extremely short throw and was more of a race shifter. I've got a B&M shifter now and love it. Install is very straightforward and took around 30 minutes from start to finish.
I had a B&M shifter for several years and then switched to a TPS Motorsports 427x C5 C6 Short Shifter and was very pleasantly surprised as the “upgrade” - smoother feeling and less notchy.
