Default Another shock question

Someone either here or on the Facebook group recently posted remarks that it’s common or ‘the nature of’ our stock nitrogen shocks to leak and to have lost their ability by the time 50k miles rolls around. I’m having a hard time accepting this, since all I’ve heard about C5 shocks since I became an owner in 2011 is how durable they are. Trouble is I have no statistical proof either way.

I don't know your answer.
What I do know is my 02's shocks seem to be failing, especially in the rear of the car. I have about 36,000 miles on her. I recently ordered the C6Z06 shocks from Gene. I figure I might as well do the C6Z51 sway bars so I ordered them too. I won't get them put on till Spring though, car is hibernating now.

I’d love to know how you make out with them, I just put the corresponding sway bars.

I did the C6 Shocks & Sways from Gene on my 04 several years ago and very happy with the results.

What is the reason for changing the sway bars when changing shocks?

Bob.

I would tend to think age would also be a factor in gas pressurization. All seals leak, it's just a matter of how much, right? You don't expect your A/C to never need a top-off, it just should be quite a time in between top-offs. So 18 year old gas charged shocks are going to be less charged than 18 month old gas charged shocks.
Science knows, when I install new gas charged shocks I make sure I know where the end is going to go before I cut the retention strap.
