Working on a 04 Z06. Owner is wanting a tire that's better in the rain and more durable than the OE GY's. Looking at the Conti Extremecontact Sport which is made in the correct size for the rear but the closest on the front is 275-40-17. Anyone tried this size deviation without any issues. Shows to be .3" taller. Any help is appreciated.

I have the Continental tires in the sizes you are looking at and have had no issues whatsoever. They seem to be a very good tire in the 15,000 miles I've had them.
I put a set of Toyo Proxes T1 Sports on my 02 Z06 two weeks ago in the stock sizes. I then drove down to Louisiana from north Kentucky this past Saturday (950 miles one way). For the first 700 miles of the trip, I drove through light, medium, and heavy rain. With these tires, I was able to drive at 75 MPH in the light and medium rain but had to slow down to 65 MPH in the heavy. Tires did great. They also rode very good. They aren't quite as responsive as the F1 Supercar Goodyears but are still very good. Good traction as well but will let you spin the tires if that is your thing. Highly recommended.
Also, just drove back to Kentucky from Louisiana today. About 300 miles of light rain, then sunny skies. Temperature was in the low 20's as I got back to Kentucky. Dry, salt covered roads. Tires were firmly planted and did great.
