Any headlight builders here?
Could you do something like this (I know.. crappy MSPaint skills)
Utilizing the same slope as the headlight cover.. tuck two projectors in there + LED turn signals and white surround.
There simply isn't enough space and height to do something like that. The Radioflyer kit is the best you're going to get for a flush mount headlight system. To do something like that, you would have to literally use 1" projectors. Good projectors start at 2.5", which is what Radioflyer uses.
Something like that would require an LED array like what is seen on a lot of Hondas and Toyotas nowadays. No one is going to spend the time and money to develop an LED headlight array that can be retrofitted onto a C5. The R&D would be extremely expensive, and the number of people that would spend that money is extremely limited, as it would likely be even more expensive than Radioflyer.
Using radio flyers pic/headlight size.
Probably right though.. not enough $ in it to make it worth the effort for a company.. it would have to be a DIY project of passion.
The projector on the bottom/front would be positioned way too low to clear the bumper. For a projector to be that far forward, it would look like those Depo frog eye lights.
The projector on the rear quite literally has no room to be there. Not only do you have the projector bowl, you also need the ability to remove and change bulbs. That area is right where headlight mounting area is, so unless you cut into your wheel well, you can't put anything there.
Radioflyer is as good as it is going to get for a dual projector setup. There is no wiggle room on C5s to do anything different without major modifications to the body. Adding in a flexible LED accent strip is child's play, Radioflyer can accommodate that easily upon request I'm sure.
Some people really like the fixed headlights and apparently consider them the right look.
For others, the thought is GM went for 44 model years with some type of flip up (or rotating up) headlight and they like the cars the way they were designed. I'm one who likes the designed look.
The headlights are actually the main thing I dislike about the C5's. It looks great when they're closed, but they look like sad droopy eyes when they're open. I feel like they make the exterior look dated too, which is a shame since the rest of the car holds up pretty well against modern cars.
I'm not sure of your local laws but HID's in factory fog/driving lights provide many more lumens and a cleaner color light than factory flip-ups with halogen bulbs. Low to the ground a genuine projector with sharp cutoff can illuminate quite far down the road without needing to flip up the hideous factory air brakes. For an absurd amount of light install slightly larger than factory "aftermarket fog/driving lights" in oem location with 50-55 watt HID setup. LED bulbs are also a legitimate option in projector housings.
