After reading "All Corvettes Are Red" and "King Of the Hill", I got to wondering if someone has written a book on the history and/or development of the LS series of engines. An internet search was unsuccessful. Does anyone know of such a book? I for one think it would be a fascinating read.
How to Build High Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 Engines by Will Handzel, $30 or so at B&N, not only has a good bit of very interesting LS history, it also has some very interesting info on build operations and options. I seem to recall seeing others on the forum indicate that not all the information is agreed with here, but it's a fun read none the less.

Doing a Google search showed a number of books on how to swap an LS engine into a car or modify that series of engines, but didn't see anything that would give a development history of the engines.
Although the LS7 didn't show up until the C6 generation, there is a decent story by Hib Halverson regarding the development of that engine can be found here:

Not a book, but a couple dozen pages that are an easy read.
Thanks much for this. If not a book, it's the next best thing. Very informative and interesting. It is mind boggling the amount of engineering, metallurgy, etc, that goes into the development of a modern engine.
