I've been considering this lately, I just hate adding the weight and cutting the car to install it properly. I was thinking more of a rear GT3RS style roll bar essentially. I like the rearward location of the weight, but not a fan of adding mass overall.

EXACTLY! I want to do it because I want to control the weight of this thing... chromoly vs, DOM and I'm not a small guy... I want it to fit the way It is supposed to at the correct height for me,
I thought about 6AL-4V titanium... but that would require some extra work... it would have to be threaded rod ends with a slight bend in the center so It acts as a spring in case of a side impact. (a straight piece would possibly shatter... although I picked the 6AL- 4V to counter this as much as possible) the GT2 RS that was run at the berg had a titanium cage.
I had a friend who owns a fab shop make a bar for me. It’s very similar to the Origional hardbar and works great and easy to install. Made from 2 inch aluminum tubing. We have a couple left for sale with sub beit mounts. If anyone is interested Pm me. I have used it multiple times at the track.
Can you post pics of what you got? ^^ Just want to see some design takes. Never considered building an aluminum one. I kill the TIG on aluminum...straight robot welds right here! Is the aluminum cast or extruded pre-bent?
It’s not as easy as you think to build a workable harness bar. I’ll attach some photos of the bars in production and finished. We built 5 sets and as I’ve said I’ve tested them and sold one to another c5 owner who loves it. They are mDe out of 2” dia hollow aluminum with solid ends. Only weigh about 10 lbs and are easy to install using the existing shoulder harness mount on the B pillar. One photo shows the unfinished bR and the others are installed in my Z06. They fit both coupes and FRC’s. We still have a couple available for sale with the sub belt mounts included. PM me if your interested. $350 plus shipping.
I've built full road racing tube chassis from scratch and hundreds of one-off forced induction systems...I'm pretty sure I can manage a harness bar...lol.
Thanks for showin what you got. I'm looking for something a little different.
very nice piece! I'm kind of like K I T T.... I prefer to melt things and mash them together myself... 22 years in aviation/aerospace and I'm starting to get this fabrication stuff down! thank you very much for sharing!
