Default My impression.

I have had my 04 going on 4 years, and just yesterday, I noticed something I have never seen before.

I am sure it has always been there, but I just never noticed it.
The question is, how did it get there?
Look at the pictures, and you can see an impression of the Corvette emblem faintly in the consol cover.
What would have causes that?
I haven't had anything resembling that anywhere near the interior of the car.

Strange to say the least.

Bob.

The spirits are telling me it is residue from an emblem that has been removed.

Wouldn't make much sense to put an emblem there when it is so close to the one on the waterfall.

But that would explain why the emblem was removed

Most probable a aftermarket console cover that since has been removed that left the mark. I have such a cover with a large emblem embroidered on it over the console. Very nice and soft on the elbow.

Yup. When I purchased mine the previous owner put one on there. I removed it and it left that ghost outline even though i removed the glue residue with Naphtha

What it appears to be is just an impression, not a glue build up.
It is as smooth as the rest of the consol surface.
It looks like someone took a hot iron that had a corvette emblem on it, and lightly branded the emblem into the vinyl.
I just can't explain it.
I don't think any thing was ever glued in that spot, there is no residue.

Have never seen something like that on any of the three C5s I have owned. As stated, a prior owner must have put an emblem there and it left the impression that you now see. Pretty cool though.

Why do vettes have a license plate frame that says Corvette? Same logic.

I thought it looked more like the "Anarchy" symbol.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. There are a lot of badge/emblem ****** around here who will affix anything out of the (insert favorite corvette catalog here) catalog to a car. There's always some empty real estate that needs another doo dad........

I called the previous owner to find out about this spot on the consol.

She bought the car new in 2004, and was the only owner, until I bought it.

She said there was never an emblem on the consol cover, just the waterfall has one.
She never replaced the consol cover so this spot is indeed a mystery.

After looking at it this morning, what it looks like is something heavy, with the corvette emblem on it was placed on the cover long enough to make an imprint, yet after speaking with her, and my own recollections, nothing with the emblem was ever placed on the cover.
That rules out the emblem ever being on the cover.
