Still, I would guess that Corvette was about $55K when new and he sold it for $45K 14 years later. NOT a good investment on the sellers side. At the same time, NOT a good price for the buyer either.

I would wager that the guy that bought it doesn't really care about the investment. He just wants a perfect Z06 for his collection. He got one.

Don't forget the 20% or whatever it is for the buyers premium so tack that onto the total. End of the day he bought a brand new car regardless of the year. It'll be put in a garage and looked at twice a year.

Or looking at it a different way, I'd rather pay a more realistic price for a Z06 and have enough left over to still get the wife a nice diamond ring too.

Nope, I'd rather have a Z06 that was driven and had 40,000 miles on it. At 4 miles, it truly is only a museum piece not to be used, unlike the Rolex and diamond ring you referenced. Why buy something I can't enjoy and use as intended when spending my hard earned money?

Barrett Jackson is an amazing auction. I think I would have be really hard pressed to buy a car there. I think they are really over priced. But if the Buyer is happy, I am happy!
