hi all, did a search, but didn't find what I was looking for [ or didn't look long enough].
in an effort to keep 'legal', I figure best to run my front plate when good weather rolls around again. what do you folks suggest for covers or surrounds for the front plate so it looks neater?

Get one of the factory surrounds that the plate slips into on three sides. Many, like me, have painted the factory black one to match the exterior paint color.
Some vendors offer a clear panel (it actually tends to be cheaper than having to buy a used body colored panel) that retains the curvature of the fascia but still allows a plate to be mounted. Some have gone further and had the areas around the letters & numbers and registration painted body color. Personally if I had to mount a front plate this would probably be the route I'd go.

Check your State's Laws on plates.
Some states do not allow any type of cover even clear ones.
That law is really for the rear, probably has something to do with people putting dark plastic and maybe even toll booth cameras that won't read through the plastic.
This subject has been here before and seemed like most left the front plate off without consequence. I can't see a cop going after someone just for the plate missing. Can't imagine how he could see it easily.
Here's mine
If you have a Vette you can afford the ticket thats my motto..LOL..
Hahaha! I lol'd I think the same way, but strangely this is the only sports car I have ever owned that I have never recieved a ticket in Even with the wing, I got pulled over once and let go.
I guess A.) I am just getting old and slow, or B.) Police see the Corvette and think I'm old and slow

You'd be surprised Rabbi...I had a NJ State Trooper follow me off of an interstate and when we got to a safe area I pulled over..His line to me ? I pulled you over because I noticed you don't have a front plate.
I explained to the LEO that I was at a show over the weekend and forgot to put the plate back on. He complimented me on my car and told me to make sure I get the front plate back on.

These laws can be very different from State to State.
I have been ticketed in Oregon for having no front license plate.
I also know drivers that have been ticketed in Oregon for having a clear cover over their front plates.
But on my 99 and again on my 03 I do have a clear bubble cover on my front plate. But I was careful in my masking to not cover any numbers or registration stickers........not that that will make a difference is the officer decides to ticket me.....so far none has.
The covers shown in post 3 would likely get ticketed in Oregon because they cover some of the info on the plate

Been pulled over 3 times in Iowa for no front plate. Twice in my 98 and once in my 99. I do run a front plate in my 02 but it is usually covered by a stretch bra (going to/from car shows). Haven't been pulled over in that one....yet
Easy,
He sees the front of your car as he approaches you from the opposite lane...........turns around and pulls you over.
Absolutely... that is what happened to me one week after I got my car and a motorcycle cop was coming in the opposite direction and he almost flipped over trying to make a U-turn and hunt me down like i had just robbed a bank and killed 30 people...and he was very rude when I told him I had the filler plate in the trunk and I was going to put the tag on as soon as I got the bracket i had on order from the dealer but he gave me a ticket anyway... I went to court and the judge scolded him for not at least giving me a warning and giving me a chance to put the tag on which I had in the trunk then the judge dismissed the ticket and court costs...
factory surround, I build scale models, and had the correct color on hand so I painted and cleared it this morning. helps that I have a small paint booth for my model building, lol.
