Nitto NT555 G2's...Opinions are welcome.
I've been running Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's the past 6 years....Loved'em and just getting toward replacement time this upcoming spring. That said, considering Nitto NT555 G2's this time around mainly because I want to fatten up the look just a bit with 255/45's up front and 285/40's out back. There aren't that many manufacturers that make those sizes in a reasonably priced summer UHP from what I've seen. Any feedback on the NT555 G2's is appreciated. Thanks.

I had the exact same thought - going +1 size front and back. Michigan roads suck and a little extra cushion would be nice too. I'm not worried about max effort cornering. Ideally I want the NT05s since they're a little softer/stickier but that's not an option. You actually have to go down to a 235 up front and stay at 275 on the rear. for the NT05s. I've read good reviews on both tires. Subscribing to hear any additional feedback.

Continental DW's used to come in those sizes, they're discontinued now. How about the ExtremContact Sport? Those are apparently second to none as compared to the Pilot Sport 4S.

I have nitto's on my pickup, and they wear like iron.
Quiet, and smooth ride.
Matter of fact, I replaced them last fall, not because they were worn, but because they had been on the pickup for years, and I was afraid of dry rot.
I bought Continental DWS extreme contact sport for the vette at the same time as I bought the Nitto's for the pickup.
I won't be installing them on the vette until spring, or summer.
I have them stored in one of my closets per the directions from Continental.
Presently the vette has the continentals on it, and they also are wearing well, with a smooth, quiet ride, which is why I decided I would get the same tires again.
I expect the same quality from the ones in storage, once I get around to installing them.
Were I to give you advice, I would go with the Continental DWS Extreme contact sport .
The are great.
Bob.

I've heard great stuff about the ExtremeContact Sports. I'm going to try a set when the car's finally out of hibernation in a few months.

One thing with the NT05's here in WA is that they don't do that well in the rain. At freeway speeds, (60-70 MPH) standing water will cause hydroplaning especially if the tread depth is around 50%.
Right now, I'm using NITTO NT555 on my '93 coupe The G2 version wasn't available at the time I needed tires. These tires are excellent on wet roads. Haven't used them for track days, but the tires are advertised as a high performance tires. The tread wear rating is 320 compared to the NT05 at 200.

I had run a set of NT05's on my '87 track car and they worked pretty good until they got too hot. They would start to squeal just as the temps got to the point where they would start to lose grip. But that squeal was a good indicator to know to back off a little until the temps cooled down.

I have the NT555 on my Mustang. 275 in front and 315 in the rear. They last forever because they are hard as a rock but they hydroplane very easily in the rain. I never drive the Mustang hard in the rain and still lose traction at stop lights and have almost spun it on the freeway in a rain storm.
I was very surprised by how much grip my C5Z has with Michelin Pilot Sports in the rain.
For me I would go with the Continental or Pilots

They seem to be pretty quiet, something like a7 out of 10. But my '93 is a 383 stroker with headers and true duals. The mufflers are all but useless But out on the freeway at 70 or so, I really don't hear any tire noise.

I have them since last summer Bruce, no complaints here. I haven't take my car to the track with them but I do a lot of mountain road carving and they have lots of grip. On the hwy and the road can't notice any annoying noise and they are fairly soft.
I also did the 285/40 18 on the rear because I wanted to fill the rear fender more. Here are some pics with the car and tires.
Hope this help brother and good luck.

Thanks for the testimonial and the pics! I'm 95% going with these tires. All I need now is to locate a nice condition, low mileage 3:42 differential and for the warm weather to get here! Maybe a cold air intake too. Oh, and what about a slightly beefier than stock torque converter for good measure?!?....Corvette Forum has been a blessing and curse all at the same time!!!! Like getting that first tattoo....it never stops at just one.
Thanks again.
