I am considering the purchase of a 2001 Z06 corvette. The vehicle I am looking at has about 2300 miles and the owner is asking about $26k. Is there any issues with this year Z06? Is there issues with this year in general?

Some 2001's had ring/oil burning issues. Sounds like a nice, low mileage Z. Check for leaks and proper maintenance over the years. Ultra, low mileage cars can have issues from sitting, but I never experienced that when I have purchased them in the past.
You do pay a premium for these cars, and once you put some miles on them, the value plumetts. It's nice getting a basically new 17 year old Vette though.

Are you looking at this Vette for your garage or for driving. For the garage, it might be an interesting idea. BUT, for driving, I'd stay away from it....price and "other" issues.
I have over 150,000 miles on my 2000 and it drives great and is very dependable but not a show car. (it was a show car)
You'll get split answers here, spoken like the gospel. I honestly don't get replies like the above - they're not based on much fact. But - everyone is entitled to their opinion. I bough a 03 with 6k on the odo. Only issue I had was a leaky oil pan gasket, which the dealer replaced (upper and lower) prior to purchasing, which these cars are known for anyways.
Due your due diligence and look it over and you'll be fine. No reason whatsoever to fear the low mileage, even for "Driving". There shouldn't be any "other issues" if it was properly maintained. I've had 2000 trouble free miles on my low mileage car the last 2 years. Good luck!
The thing that would scare me about the '01 models is the oil burning issue. The seller (be it a private owner or a dealer) could simply say the car has no issue with burning oil and there's no way to know if it's true or not until you have had the car long enough to see if it has the issue. I probably wouldn't buy an '01 model from a dealer for this very reason...it would be easier to gauge a private owner's honesty, but most dealership sales people will say anything to make a sale...

With 2300 miles on the car, how would either the private seller or the dealer know if it burns oil? That is just trying to install a prejudice in this situation that does not exist.
Way to high a price in my opinion. And don't forget, you will need a new set of tires, belts, hoses, oil/fluid change, etc. to bring the car up to drivability and safety.Figure that into your cost.

Okay, let's say the owner doesn't know, the buyer could still end up with an oil burner...it's a known common problem with the '01s...
Where is this coming from? I've got a 2001 with 49k and have never had any oil burning issues and have never heard of any such issues from others.
Then you must not read this forum much...do a search and you'll probably come up with dozens of threads about the oil burning issues with the '01s...here is the result of a search I did just in the general forum...

I guess that I'm supposed to read that my car is an oil burner even though it hasn't burned a drop in 16 years. None of my friends with 01's have never indicated an issue either.
I would take that issue with a grain of salt & suggest to the buyer that it is most likely a "non-issue". This is from an actual "owner" of an 01.
I owned a new 01Z back in September of 2000. The LS1 engines did not have the oil problem but the early Z did. Since I heavily autocrossed, TT and HPDE'd the car, you expected it to burn a little oil. Several of my local club members worked in GM engineering and the Milford proving grounds and I was able to take it to the dealer with a list of updates to be done. After that until the end of 2001 it was not an issue. When I sold the Z06 it was an AS autocross car for a few years and then turned into a full race car.

So because your, and your friend's '01 don't have the issue, none of them can? And a person doesn't have to own a C5 to be able to read...

Now this was just in the 01 Z06.. in your avatar it looks like you have a rag top.. so its not the engines in the rag tops or coupes.
From what I read the oil consuming problem was with 2001 Z that were constantly driven at over 4000 rpm.
My son bought a 2001 Z with 12,000 miles. Never had a problem with oil consumption.
In my opinion the selling price is too high.
