Winter in Maryland can be bad, real bad. But today, after yesterday’s full day of rain to wash off the lingering stuff from the roads that is put on to help traction in ice and snow, I took my 04 Vert out for a 2 hour ride (top up, not that warm). Went to 2 stores and to my amazement I saw another C5Z parked in the lot. Wow, two of us that just cannot waste 4+ months not driving our avatars’ because of Winter. No Winter C5 hibernation for this guy.

Depending on the weather and whether or not a lot of salt/cinders have been tossed out on the road, I may get my car out on occasion during the winter months. However, most winters my car goes into storage around December 1st and doesn't come out until maybe the middle of March, first of April.

I try to get my '04 out when the roads are dry and salt free. But this year in northern Illinois it has been sitting in the garage with the battery tender since the end of November. 8 to 14 inches of snow forecast for tonight so it will be stuck in there a good while longer.

Yeah, no. My Vettes stay in the garage till Spring. WAAAYYYYY too much salt and brine on the roads. We are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow today/tonight.
Also, both Vettes have summer only tires on them and both are lowered.

I'm in Maryland, too (near DC) and there was a lot of (freezing) rain here yesterday, and today I saw there was still a surprisingly large amount of salt on the roads here. I do try to get my coupe out in the winter when conditions are good, but definitely not with this much salt left.

Latest forecast in Chicago is for 12 or more inches of the white stuff. Mines staying in a few more weeks at least.
Enjoy the ride "rrwirsi".

I've always driven my cars in the winter as long as the roads are clear and dry. Why let the calendar dictate when you drive? I had all my cars out the last 2 days.
Last night it rained then froze. Out came the sanders. Roads are white, so no more fun for a while.

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. My Corvette is no garage queen- it stays parked in the driveway along with an "04 Corolla (our 2 garage is claimed by my wife's Highlander and our BMW). I'll drive Corvette on snow, salt, wet or dry...and do my best to keep it clean. I am of the school life is too short to not enjoy this car. With that said on really nasty days, I'll drive the "beater" Corolla.

I do live in the snow belt (mid central Ohio) and I know what salt and calcium will do to a car. My Vette is safely stored in my warm dry garage until all of the white powder ground into the pavement is gone for the season. My son-in-laws F-150 frame actually broke in two because of the salt corrosion. Lucky for him Ford bought it from him.

i live in utah. i tucked her away in october. two weeks ago, with no snow on the ground, no snow in the forecast, and 50+ degree days, i got it back out and have been commuting with mine. this is a very odd winter for utah.

Nope. Mine gets stuffed in the garage for the winter. I got a really nice truck a few years ago, and made the mistake of dumping a ton of money into it and now I don't want salt on it either, so I bought an Infiniti SUV to use as a winter beater, and my truck sits on the driveway in the back yard because it's too tall to fit in the garage

I am in the Boston area. If it rains and washes the salt away I will drive the C5. I drove it to work a couple of times during the last week of January.
