I've been doing a double din install whenever I get free time over the past week, and I'm wondering what the yellow box is under the hvac, it's attached to the bottom of the cage. Really just wondering what it is?
Also off topic, but I can't believe anyone was really able to drill the rivets out for the radio/hvac brackets. I tried with a right angle dremel attachment and made no head way with several cobalt bits, I ended up using mini hack saws to get them out. My wrist hurts.
I had absolutely no trouble with a right angle drill. I center punched the rivets and then started with a small bit (1/8") and then stepped up to a larger diameter bit and the rivet heads popped right off. About 20 minutes to pop all 4 rivets.
Maybe using a real right angle drill is the difference, the dremel even at 35000 rpm isn't good enough for the job. I was using 1/8 bits as that was about as big as the dremel would fit.
In re: to your initial question if you see anything yellow under the dash - modules, connectors, etc - they are for air bag and SRS components. This is a requirement by the NHTSA for ease of identification when servicing components without having to immediately rely on diagrams.
