I purchased a 2001 C5. I was told there was a new performance chip installed in the engine to make it run faster.
Question. Where can I look to see what this chip is vs what was stock?
bigger question. Do I have to be in performance mode to enjoy this chips feature? I had the wheel trac engaged on a normal drive and picked the gas. The car picked up but revved very high before shifting. I am wondering if I was in performance mode, wheel traction disengaged, would I see a vast improvement?

There is no such thing as a performance chip for the C5. HOPEFULLY you weren’t told this by the person you bought it from. If so, I would worry about other things that they misrepresented.
Performance chips...magic beans, same thing....believe me if it was that easy don't you think GM would have done it in the first place? They would stand on their heads to get another 5 HP out our their LS1 engines. Please send me your money first!

okay I guess I didn’t make perfect sense when you go online you can find performance chip tuners. ECU or ECS tuning. Maybe I should have said tuners in my thread. Would that make a bit more sense where you can tune the engine for better performance due to air fuel mix etc.
so question is the only way to know what the car is set for, versus stock setting, is to find someone that can plug in and tell me the engine setting?
I've always been told the benefit of a tune on a stock vehicle is small. Something definitely there to be gained, but the benefit of a tune really comes after you've added headers, cam...
sounds like you have a mail order tune and something was done with the shift points...
my advice to you is...tell us where you live so perhaps we can point you to a reputable tuner in your area who can take a look and see what you have going on
after that, as mentioned getting a stock car "tuned" is pretty much a waste...CAI, headers and exhaust would be the minimum I would do before getting a tune.

Hopefully you live close enough to a good tuner that you can just take the car in and have it checked. If not, there are some good tuners on the forum such as ECS, Corvettes of Winchester, Cartek, etc. that can do mail order tunes.
