I know this may seem a bit trivial but I am trying to figure out a way for the shift boot to stay up and always in contact with the shift **** instead of drooping down like to does, exposing the lock nut and part of the stick as shown in this picture. Any ideas? An adhesive of some sort?
My solution was to run to the hardware store and buy a 9/16" inner diameter shaft collar. They come with a set screw in them. Slide the collar on to the shifter, install the boot inside out and upside down, then put on your shifter ****. Then push the boot up against the ****, and push the collar up to sandwich the boot against the ****. Tighten down the set screw on the collar and you are done.

Another great suggestion that exhibits a higher quality fix. I love it!

Thanks, guys! To be quite honest, I didn't even know such a thing existed. I kind of stared at my shift lever and **** and thought "I wish there was a way to sandwich this boot against the bottom of the ****", so I Google image searched using a bunch of relevant search words until I spotted a picture that looked like it might work. Turns out it was called a "shaft collar". I almost used a flat washer and a 9/16-18 nut inside the boot, but this accomplished the same thing and was much faster to install and remove.
You could also get a few rubber washers from Lowes or Homedepot (or any hardware store) in the right size. Place them onto the shifter **** below the boot. Place enough of them and you can get the boot to stay up exactly how you want it.
I would go with the collar, you'll never have to worry about it again .
Just an update, I used a zip tie and it took me all of 2 minutes and it works perfect but will be temporary until I have a chance to pick up a collar. Thanks again fellas!
