....that if you leave the headlight connectors un-mated that the "key is in the ignition" chime comes on when driver's door is opened...??
I recently had to replace the headlight gear in the left side headlight lift motor...(quite easy to do by the way). After re-stalling the headlight assembly back in the car, I left the connector un-mated as I was going to go ahead and do the right side....which I did a few days later.
I also left the right headlight connector un-mated. I then needed to drive the Corvette, (was in the daytime) shut the hood and took off. Got to first stop, got out...ding, ding, ding, ding......with keys in my hand. What is that all about....has the ignition key failed on me??
Left there and went to second stop, got out....ding, ding, ding, ding....with keys in hand....really, now I have to pull the ignition switch out.....then I remembered that I never made those connections.
Made the connections, started engine, both lights open (I did not touch the headlight control)...then close. Shut off engine, opened driver's door and no more ding, ding, ding.
Guess the car was telling me that I really, really need to plug those headlights in.
