I am interested in another forum members Z, the car sounds pretty good although the seller did disclose that a previous owner may have had an issue using jack pucks in the past.
My question is, has anyone ever had an "oops" moment when using jack pucks, and what was your end result? Any concern of damage greater than just the sheet molded compound? I am mostly worried about the steel frame rusting since it has been scratched and the car would be exposed to moisture. Sorry about the orientation, flipping the original image doesn't work either.

Damage like that could have been done by not using jacking pucks and having the lift pads on the lift come in contact with the rocker panel. I guess it could happen if a jacking puck failed (broke) too.
If you are worried about rust from the scratch, sand, primer and paint the affected area and that should keep the rust at bay.
Yes, GM really could have done better with the jacking area. 3 of the
C5Zs I have owned have had some level of damage in this area.
I am fairly particular but I would not be overly concerned. I would
compare it to a couple of scratches on the underside of the front bumper.
Sure, I would prefer not to have either but realize both can happen
even on well cared for corvettes.

No, but when I would put them on the lift to change the oil I would
clean/wax the area. Even that may have been overkill though. It is
not something that you really notice unless you are under the car
and looking for those things.
