Default Core shifters

Thinking of ordering their C5 short shifter gor my C5 Z06 .
Anyone have any experience with them?
They don't offer refunds, hence me checking with you guys closely before taking the plunge.
Not interested in MGW or Hinson.

I've got one in my 2000. I like it alot - great feel, precise shift, and perfect throw. Looks great too. However, I can't seem to get rid of high throttle rattle. Might be the cup? I plan to dig into this when I get it out of storage.

Like your positive comments regardless.
Wonder if rattle is install /product related.. 🤔

Like I said, the rattle only happens under heavy acceleration, and frankly, I'm not sure if it's actually the shifter or not. The unit was installed by the previous owner, so I'm not sure if he reused the cup, how the grommets look, if everything was torqued correctly, etc. I plan to dig into this once I get it out of storage.

Imho, it's a great shifter and unless we start hearing a bunch of others chiming in with the same rattle issue, I wouldn't let this discourage you. I've found a few other wacky things that I had to sort out on this car, so nothing surprises me.

I've had core shifters on two Camaros and now my c6. Short precise throws and no rattles at all. Very good shifter for the money if you ask me.

I love mine. I replaced the rubber bushings when I swapped it out as well. Never had a rattle and its a nice tight pattern. Way better than stock. For the money you can't beat them. I will say the shifter ball is cheap and marks up easy so I bought a new ball with the C5 logo for $50.

Did you replace the rubber bushings as well?

Core shifters are good to go! The model they offer for stock ***** or other 9/16 ***** is the deal of the century. Basically a Hurst Billet Plus shifter with smoother throws. Core did a nice job on these shifters. They are like a step above a C6 shifter and a step below an MGW as far as "feel" goes.

Sounds good to me. Might even stick with OEM C5 ****. Not the prettiest, but feels great in hand to me.Was thinking of adding the white Hurst **** to my order.. But if it's that cheaply made 🤔....

Hi MB - Like I said earlier, the previous owner did the install, and I have no clue what if anything he changed. My guess is, he reused the cup and did not change the bushings. I am however trying to find the supplier someone recommended that had the urethane bushings. I'm having a hard time finding that.

unfortunately the stock shifter won’t fit I’m not sure it would look right on that shifter anyway. I had to buy a brass reducer/adapter to make it fit the standard size ball because it’s such a small thread on the core shifter.

Got ya. I don’t see how urethane bushings would fit as they are a bitch to change with these pliable ones. I’m sure thats whats causing your rattle.

I'm ordering the one in black that accepts the original shifter.

Ive been using Core shifters on my last 3 cars.... a 04 Mustang, 99 Trans AM and now my C5. These are absolutely great setups for the price. Im running the tapered SS with the Hurst **** on my C5 and for $160 u wont find a smoother/better looking setup. Highly recommended...You will be happy with this purchase.
Side note---the **** included is a Hurst brand black/white **** so any issues with the ball itself as noted above would be a Hurst issue and not a Core Shifter issue.

I installed mine last week and I'm really liking it. I changed the rubber bushings for poly and cleaned and lubed the lower box at the same time. I had rattle before, but haven't heard it since the install.

Hurst/Core shifter was my first mod on my Z06. Love the looks and performance of the shifter.

Is it a must to get poly bushings?
Where from ?
What grease did you use for lubing?

Zip sells the poly bushings which took care of my shifter rattling.

They poly bushings came from Zip, you can get replacement rubber ones from multiple places. Either should help.

I used brown lithium grease on the lower shifter shaft, and silicone paste on the shifter cup. Iidon't know if this is correct, but it's what I had.
