Uh oh, you're going to get all kinds of responses for this. My manual gets around 32 mpg on the highway and about 25-26 mpg around town. I've had a couple of auto c5's and they were just a few mpg worse. Again, you're going to get a lot of different answers, but you should be around that.

What's normal driving conditions for you?
Normal for me is city only with a heavy right foot fairly often (Z06, so manual of course, and bigger cam etc. so worse mileage anyway). My car tells me 15.9 MPG average.

Most of my driving is just cruising about the back roads. Probably 10% town. Mostly just use regular gas with up to 10% ethanol. Been averaging 23 to 25 mpg for the last 10K miles. I keep a log on everytime I put gas in my vehicles.

I've had my 03 vert automatic for just under a year and I get around 24 mpg average.
That's total average, around town and on the road.
I use 89 octane with a bottle of Techron every other tank.
I don't push it. Just cruise about 3 above on the highway and putt around in town.

Well, I'm not getting near those numbers. I had a 92 vette and it got 26 to 27. Now I have a 2004 coupe and it gets 11 to 15. This stinks big time. I thought it would at least get in the 26 range. You know, better technology and all that stuff combined with a cd of .29. This car had or has the lowest air drag of any car in the world. I think something is wrong here. Anyway, car has 37,000 miles on it and I was expecting at least the same mileage I got with my older vette.
Thanks

My car is cammed. I always fill up, reset trip, and drive till the light comes on. I get about 300 kms. I have no idea how to calculate miles per gallon.. i think my fuel consumption is horrible. Maybe its the tune??

I was just wondering if it may need to be looked at or maybe it may need a tune up?
Thanks

Lets see....average. Around town 17-20, highway 28-30...somewhere in the middle for a 2000 A4 (somewhat stock) 153,000 miles with high test 93 octane.

That doesn't sound right at all. I have a heavy right foot and mostly town driving and am AVERAGING 18 mpg. I get 26 to 27 all day long on the highway ( I have a Z06) and that's with spirited driving most of the time.

I would consider having it looked at. Does it sound good when its running? Power seem ok?

Sounds great running at idle or throttle. Runs like a bat out of hell. All stock motor. No mods. Just seems like I should get at least 22 to 24 mpg. I drove my 92 coupe spirited most of the time and was able to get 26. I know what I would get if I floored it. Gas goes really quick when you stomp it. I find it hard to believe that my 92 gets getter gas mileage than my 2004. If they have the Technology, what happened .... Lol
Thanks

You would be the exception rather than the rule. You can do a search on here for gas mileage and you will find the C5 is almost unanimously reported as getting great fuel mileage. Like you, I got great mileage with my C4 but now even better with my C5. There should be someone on here knowledgeable enough to help you troubleshoot the problem. I would look that way first before dropping a lot of coin taking it to a shop. Have you done a diagnostic and pulled any engine codes? It is easy to do and you don't need a scanner. That may give you some clues as to what is going on.

My ‘03 A4 gets 26-27 mpg out on the highway (I use cruise control a lot and go maybe 5 over on the speed). Around town, I get 16-18 mpg - we have a lot of hills in this town.

My ZO6 is supercharged with a blower cam and it still gets 26mpg on the highway all day long. I generally get 18-20mpg mixed.

i would take your car in somewhere and get it looked at.

I have a scanner and will try to pull codes asap and post them if any pop up or if any old codes are still stored in memory.
Thanks,

You don't need a scanner on a C5. You can pull them right from the DIC on the dash.

EDIT: found the link. Video in first post shows how to pull the codes: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ion-files.html

Correct. No scanner needed and it's really easy.

Clearly you have something wrong. But how are you coming up with those fuel economy numbers? Looking at the DIC readout or calculating manually? What gear are you in? What speed were you at and over what distance? Manual or auto trans?

When I had my '92 vert, I could get 28MPG at 70 on the freeway with the cruise control set. Had to be fairly flat land as hills can cost mileage. My '02 manual trans coupe has a supercharger but otherwise stock and the car will deliver up to 32MPG when driven carefully. On a trip thru Montana, I saw 31MPG in 6th gear at 82MPH, again with the cruise control on and the MPG figure was done with a calculator.

If you get any codes, post them up!
