So, I got this 03Z and it needs tires, mostly fronts. I want to sacrifice the rears to the Driveway Gods - My Driveway is 400’ long ;+).
I’m new to these cars so be gentile…
How do I seal my driveway with GoodYear rubber and NOT kill my car with WheelHop? I’ve read the Owner Manual about Traction Control / Competition Mode and it’s kind of vague.
I FINALLY got to take a real ride tonight (40* @ 6AM – 75* @ 4PM in Central PA – WTF!). When I got home I tried to do a nice long burn-out but I got WheelHop – TC was OFF. I have close friends that have destroyed cars from WheelHop so I shut it down.
Please teach me how to eliminate my rear tires – while Pi$$ing my neighbors off – and not wreck the car I just bought.
I Just Need some coaching here. This should be fun...Right?
Thanks
Turn off the traction control completely. Put the car in 2nd gear, rev it to 4K and dump the clutch. Immediately hop on the brake while keeping the car around 5k. Modulate the brake so that you aren’t stopping wheelspin but aren’t moving forward. Slowly ease off the brake to crawl while boiling the rears. Crawl down the driveway at 2-5mph killing tires.
Let off brake completely and ride a rolling burnout out to 70mph mph on greasy tires if you’re into man ****. But you’ll probably end up in the yard lol.

Why not just get new tires and skip trying to destroy your car? Or better yet, sell it to someone who will take better care of it. Do that and you will never have to worry about "wheel hop".

Look at this:
Guy belongs in a Toyota Corolla with a governor
Funny thing is that this guy is the perfect example of the typical smug ******* corvette driver. I LOVE these cars but I completely understand the stereotype behind them. In a lot of ways its true.
Is this "Jimbo" from Youtube who destroys Corvettes, drives like a fool and always complains about "Wheel Hop"?
Say it ain`t so!!!!!
Nope - I ain't that guy - He's kinda Dorky too. I won't watch his stuff.
I'm not trying to 'ruin' my car - just the old, dry tires. That's the whole point - the car can easily overpower them and I just wanna have a little fun before they go in the dumpster. I have no experience with this, my other car is a manual G8 GXP - also suffers from serious wheel hop and I don't / can't beat on it because of that.

Best advice yet. You might want to try inflating the rear tires a bit more so that the sidewall is a tiny bit stiffer, and the contact patch is reduced.

I thought the stereotype was the Q-Tip headed old dude who recently retired and now can finally afford a C5, but can barely get in and out of it....this kid is just a douche bag...

Why would you do this to a car you love. The damage you do could be extensive to your drive train components. Unless your car has been built to do this get you wallet out.
The 3 seconds that you get to hear or see the car in action are good. I still don't understand how ANYBODY can watch 17 minutes of this kid talking. I wonder if he can truly turn wrenches.

Start slow , get used to car ! If you have a place , play with popping clutch in first , shifting thru gears at of near red line etc ! Take your time !

Where do you live, I can stop by and offer a demo
These guys get it, and saved me from typing it. I was in the same boat when I bought my c5, roasted the 10 year old tires over the course of a month and put fresh ones ones. Give it another go, light em up!

Trust me, I am SUPER careful with ALL my stuff and have no intentions on being a Jimbo.
