I bought my C5 (standard suspension) last fall and really haven't driven it too much. It only has 25,000 miles and is all original. This spring I have been driving it and noticed it kind of dives in a turn. That's not a very good description but I don't know any other way to say it. It drives nice and straight but seems kind of unsteady as far as vertical movement.
I'm thinking the shocks all need to be changed, they are 18 years old even tough low mileage. I have done some reading here and decided the C6 Z06 shocks might be what I should install. I found them on Rock Auto for $233 shipped.
First of all do you think I'm on the right track with new shocks and do you think the c6 Z06 shocks would be good for my car?
Just replaced my 02's shocks with C6Z06 ones. The old ones looked ok, no leaks. The new ones made the ride and handling noticeably better and sits a little higher, cornering flatter too. Used to be when coming into my driveway at anything but a very slow speed the front dam would scrape, now no problem.
C6 Z51 sway bars did a lot in keeping the Corvette flat in turns with my F45 suspension. The metal endlinks also helped with tightening up steering feel.
