Default Is It Possible?

Gentlemen,

I'm seriously considering a c5 FRC because they're beautiful and I miss my old z06. However, I'm going with a budget friendly mindset and low-miles is the name of the game so a low-mile z06 is just out or range.

I have my eyes on a very clean FRC but I know the performance is lacking a bit due to the age of the c5. Is it possible to have a street-friendly(stock driveability) FRC that will run high 10s? I was thinking a mild cam swap, ls6 heads, a c6z diff with 4.10s and of course longtubes, etc. Am I reaching too high?

Thanks in advance,
-Ray

I don't know if you'd be saving much money selecting a FRC, and then modding it, than starting with a Z, but... IMO, if you're planning on doing the mods required to run in the 10s, why waste a low mileage used FRC, even if you find one? I totally agree with the hardtop looks compared to a coupe, but either one will suffice if you're making a race car.

Add to above... I don't think you'll see high 10's with those mods. A mild cam, LS6 heads, headers and 4.10's; think mid 11's is more realistic.
If 10's were my budget minded goal I'd buy one that's already there. Save you some money I think.

I do not think you will get into the 10s with those mods. Go with some of the mods and a supercharger and you could dip into the 10s.

But you would probably be $s ahead by finding a car that already has a quality high performance build installed on it.

one thing to think about is, just because a car is capable of running 10's doesn't mean the driver is.it's much easier for a driver to get an automatic into the 10's than it is a manual.all frc/z06 came from the factory as a manual
you can build a 400rwhp car and put a 150 shot on it and the car should be high 10's

Not sure what the OP's intent is for the car, but you can drop a small fortune on a car and still not get what you could (performance wise) for a newer (more reliable) car, such as a C-6 Z06.
