No, it's not a blower, or nitrous (you think the wife would even understand why?) I made the partition today! Woooooo. Very easy, and done for under 25 bucks! The fit is EXCELLENT. The match on the carpet is 99.5 percent (wally world, black carpet). I've not taken her out for a spin, but just a quick test in the driveway proved: 1) The Blose radio sounds 100 times better, and 2) The car is a bit quieter. I'm sort of sad that the exhaust is a little quieter (can always fix that later with aftermarket), but I won't miss the extra road noise on next week's 800 mile trip to PA. All I need to finish it off is a badge. Can't decide if I want to go with the standard C5 crossed-flags logo, or the Z06 logo. Your thoughts? FYI, I used 3/4 inch styrofoam external home insulation/sheathing. Breakdown is:
4x8 sheet insulation - 8 bucks
Carpet - 8 bucks
3M spray adhesive (good stuff) - 8 bucks
2 sheets poster board to make the template - 72 cents
Total = 24.72!
If anyone wants the template they can have it, just let me know. It is slightly undersized, so you can wrap your carpet, and then you end up with a darn near perfect fit. Pics will follow, no digital camera, but just finished a roll and will have them put to disc as well.
I really wanted to use a thicker product thinking the 3/4 inch styro wouldn't be sturdy enough, but around here, it was all I could find. Also considered doubling up two pieces, but in the end, I'm not sure there's room for a 2 inch partition? Anyway, finished product with carpet ended up being about an inch, so it seems sturdy enough.
