Default Tire Pressure Indicators ..... MIA

I bought a '02 coupe last winter. Tire pressures were not showing on the DIC. I just put on new wheels, sensors, tires ..... and still nothing shows. Discount Tire tried a relearn, but no- go. Is there a trick? Helpful advice would be appreciated. Thx.

Try asking the folks in the C5 forums.

Ok, so here is for C5, I was told that it takes several miles of driving from friends to get them reset.

Just about any strong magnet will work (a speaker magnet works fine). Or you might just check with your local Chevy dealer and see if they would program them for you. It only takes about three minutes if they know what they are doing. I had problems getting my sensors to program once (using the factory programming tool - magnet) and I stopped by my local dealer and they actually got them to work for no charge.

When I bought my tires and supplied new sensors, the shop told me they tried several times to train the new sensors. but could not do it. I asked them if they used a magnet and they said, "What?" They had never set the sensors on a C5 corvette before and did not know how to do it. I bought a magnet and did it at home in two minutes.

I've been on the road this week. Just got home last night, got a magnet, and followed the C5 Utube video this AM. I can't get the DIC to bring up 'tire training'. I can get it to FOB training, but when I 'hit the options button once' (per the video), nothing happens. I can't get from FOB training to tire training.

Also, when i push the 'gages' button and toggle through, i get oil pressure, volts, etc .... but tire pressure does not display.

Suggestions?

Suggestions anyone?

And how do I pull the codes? Sounds like I need a scan tool. Is this something an auto parts store can do?

It's easy to pull codes.
The "diagnostic display" mode is entered with the following procedure:

Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
Press and hold "options" and
While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-second period.
Inititially, the on-board diagnostics go into the "automatic" mode which shows each module's DTCs in a pre-set sequence:

10 PCM Powertrain Control Module page 6-357 - 6-361
28 TCS Traction Control system ABS on page 5-86
?? RTD Real Time damping page 3-136 (I do not have this option)
40 BCM Body Control Module page 8-405 UTD Page 8-727
60 IPC Instrument Panel Cluster page 8-508
80 radio page 8-213
99 HVAC Heater Vent-Air Conditioning page 1-118
A0 LDCM Left Door Control module page 8-904 to 8-951
A1 RDCM Right Door Control Module page 8-904 to 8-951
AC SCM Seat Control module page 8-1064 -8-1082
B0 RFA Remote Function Actuation page 8-676
Post your codes here and someone will be along shortly to assist you.

Wow.... didn't know it was that easy to get the codes. Here's what I found. Not sure why the door control modules would have anything to do with TPMS. I hope it all makes sense to someone!

Is the '02 a Z06 by chance? They don't have TPMS.

Should be the last sensor that reports when you pull codes.
It says 'NO CODES'

BTW .... its possible I have 'memory' issues that I've not detected. I purchased the car last Nov and am just now starting to drive it regularly. I'm the only driver so really don't use the memory stuff. I just get in and go. But everything else seems to work fine. But it's a beautiful Electron Blue and I'd really like to get everything functioning as intended. I hope someone has the 'fix'.

Since the car never showed pressures and you cannot get the TPMS programming to show up it may be that a previous owner had the TPMS RPO programmed out of the BCM so they didn't have to spend money on new sensors......

The RFA serves as the receiver for both the TPMS and the keyless entry FOB's. Do the FOB's lock/unlock the door???

the place holders do not do not show at all. The fobs do lock and unlock the doors.

It sounds like this would require a visit to the local dealer?

New wheels and TPMS came from West Coast Corvette. I could track down the info .... but I know they were the 'good' ones.

I agree, if you really want the pressures to be monitored, find someone with 'tech 2' to reprogram it.
