Dash Cam Recommendations?
Resolution is pretty good but I don't know if you could make out a license plate on a hit and run though.
Blackvue has a lot of options for multiple cameras, parking mode etc. Spend the money and get what you want. They way I look at it, if it saves you one time it's paid for itself.
They're right now the only one that can connect via cloud-- so if you have a hotspot in your car, pics are automatically uploaded to the cloud, you can view live video, etc. Of course, you actually have to have a hotspot (for me, old phone + $10/month extra line on verizon wireless was well worth it). The new camera is also 4k, I believe the only 4k out on the market right now.
The only other manufacturer I'd consider is thinkware -- their cameras are just as good, if not in some respects better than blackvue (their night vision tends to be better) though I do not believe they have a 4k camera yet (and to be fair, blackvue's 4k camera isn't actually shipping just yet). They also have very rudimentary wifi-capability, nothing like balckvues, but it's supposed to be getting better.
So bottom line, I'd look at blackvue and thinkware. IF you want wifi access, then it's a no-brainer, go with blackvue. If you don't, either would work IMHO, though thinkware may get a nod.

I understand that you get what you pay for, but there's quite a disparity in cost.
I guess the cheapos on Craigs list are just junk ex-Uber drivers are trying to dump.
