Default Dash Cam Recommendations?

I'm looking for a dash cam for my 99. Anyone use one that they really like? I'd like it to have dual camera's (front facing/rear facing) so I can use the rear facing one as a backup cam.

I have an entry level Blackvue and like it for the price. Install was easy and it's totally invisible when you're driving.

Resolution is pretty good but I don't know if you could make out a license plate on a hit and run though.

Blackvue has a lot of options for multiple cameras, parking mode etc. Spend the money and get what you want. They way I look at it, if it saves you one time it's paid for itself.

A rear facing dash cam will not work well as a backup camera.

blackview. They just came out with a new one (950s?). they're great-- two channel (front and rear), and very subtle. I have the last model (750s) one in my trackhawk, and the 950 on order.
They're right now the only one that can connect via cloud-- so if you have a hotspot in your car, pics are automatically uploaded to the cloud, you can view live video, etc. Of course, you actually have to have a hotspot (for me, old phone + $10/month extra line on verizon wireless was well worth it). The new camera is also 4k, I believe the only 4k out on the market right now.

The only other manufacturer I'd consider is thinkware -- their cameras are just as good, if not in some respects better than blackvue (their night vision tends to be better) though I do not believe they have a 4k camera yet (and to be fair, blackvue's 4k camera isn't actually shipping just yet). They also have very rudimentary wifi-capability, nothing like balckvues, but it's supposed to be getting better.

So bottom line, I'd look at blackvue and thinkware. IF you want wifi access, then it's a no-brainer, go with blackvue. If you don't, either would work IMHO, though thinkware may get a nod.

Blackvue certainly seems to dominate the Amazon offering -- I was surprised that there seems to be a group of cameras- various types- that are around $75 . . .and then those that are $2-300....many that are both front and rear.

I understand that you get what you pay for, but there's quite a disparity in cost.

I guess the cheapos on Craigs list are just junk ex-Uber drivers are trying to dump.
