I like the Jeep and the Vette.
Kids do like Vettes, more than once my Corvettes have gotten the "Kids Choice" award at car shows. That's at shows with over 100 cars, once even at a all Corvette show. I let kids sit in my Corvettes at car shows which most car show people cringe at. The tallest trophy in the middle is one of the "Kids Choice" award.
If I have to choose between the 2, I'll take both.
I have a real Jeep, not a Chrysler/Dodge; it's a '63 ****** CJ-5. And a '13 GS.
But I'll be buried in the Jeep.
Very cool, have never seen a V8 swapped Cherokee. What axles? Front looks like a HP30?
the front is a dana 30, rebuilt with a true trak locker. Much stronger than stock, but.. still a d30.
rear is a ford 8.8, with a detroit locker. Both regeared to 4.11.
350/ls swaps are actually very popular. I did mine in the early '00's, when ls prices were still insane, these days ls motors are becoming a very popular choice. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with an ls. or a zz6 motor.

Very nice. The LS swap in my Wrangler was the best mod yet. I am running similar setup, but with air selectable lockers. I did bust the c's in the 8.8, so eliminated that. Since then, no issues.
Jeeps, Schmeeps! No way are they cooler than a corvette. When I idle through our residential neighborhoods, all the boys in the 7 to 11 year old range immediately freeze when they see the car and stop whatever they are doing and stare, LOL. I usually get a big thumbs up or an enthusiastic wave and their jaws are almost on the ground. It is just funny as can be when it happens. Ain't no Jeep garnering that kind of response.
Interestingly the same age range of girls ignore it for the most part. Go figure.
Youngsters have different tastes. One of my grandsons took over my wife's turbo Subaru when we bought the G80 - he and his friends are all into Japanese cars, mainly Subies. Corvettes to them are old folks' cars.
Often thought about a Jeep for a winter beater, but I think I'd rather have an H3 Alpha.

I will say, I loved everything about my old Subaru STi except the way it looked. That thing was unstoppable in all weather conditions, had grip for days, and when I stomped on the pedal, I knew it wouldn't try to kill me even with 360whp or so. Unfortunately it looked like a riced out Honda, and I was always nervous it would blow up.
I trust my Corvette a lot more to not blow itself up, but at 460wph, It's more than a little unpredictable. Plus it's so beautiful. Frankly I wish I could have kept both.
I've extremely brand disloyal, I have no idea what my next car will be (though I'm keeping my C5 for a few years at least.) Maybe one of the newer 5.0 Mustangs, or a C6, Maybe a Lancer Evo X. Hell, even the luxury brands that I've always thought were boring are starting to appeal to me as I'm entering my 30's.
Funny this thread popping up now, I’ve been thinking about selling my vert and going with a beater Jeep. I can’t believe how much they sell for in not very good condition. Only good thing is you could buy one, drive It around for a while and probably sell it for the same or more money than you paid.
Those things seem to hold their value.
After reading above post (I was typing mine as he posted), I will have to reconsider.

So I bought a bad-*** looking Wrangler Sahara and still couldn't understand the "Jeep thing."
Dumped the Jeep.
Got a 2013 Z06.
The only regret I ever had was buying a Jeep to begin with.
Yes, you either get it or you don't. Most that don't have never taken one off road, much less pushed it to its off road limits. They can leak, drive like a log wagon, drink lots of fuel and are slow, but man they can go about anywhere (properly equiped with lockers).
I have a Vette for having fun on the road and a Jeep for having fun off the road.
The answer is yes, at least according to a 12 year old. I drove my son to school this morning and gave him the choice of what he wanted to be seen pulling up in. He chose the Jeep without hesitation. I think its' cool factor is way up right now because I have the roof and doors off.
I don"t know man, maybe paint the rims black on the Vette to match the badness of the Jeep. That would be a good start. On the bright side, if you keep that Vette long enough (many, many years) he'll eventually like it more than the Jeep...
It's a 15-20+ year old car with (no offense) old man color options. I'm not even remotely surprised. If it were me at 12 I'd still take the car, but then I've never been into trucks or Jeeps.
The go anywhere even without civilizations roads look is the new cool rather than going fast on the roads in a sports car..
Of course as a driver I know which I prefer but with shows like the walking dead etc and all that jeeps are preferred by most men, women and even children.
Two nice rides and only you know what you prefer driving.
Enjoy your time with your son...
That in and of itself many forget is a blessing although over time I would switch back and forth using both vehicles as I’m sure you do to teach your son the value and importance of enjoying many various perspectives on travelling through life.
Great photos

Ours was a rarity, a Legacy GT 5speed Wagon. Only made for a year - a complete "sleeper". Power less than an STI but more than the contemporary WRX. Once it was spooled up it really flew. But I am in love with our Genesis G80. Quiet, comfortable but surprisingly agile. I guess that comes from the German design team of ex Audi and BMW types.
