Hi guys, The wife and I were talking about where to go on our annual road trip and can't decide if we just want to go back to North Carolina and The Great Smokey Mountains. The roads up there are great and we really enjoy that area but are thinking that someplace new might be nice. So do any of you have any Corvette (read curvy roads) friendly ideas for a great trip.
The wife & I are headed to Cumberland Falls (KY) next month and plan on driving Rattlesnake 192 while we are there. Then we are hitting the Gatlinburg area for a few days. Plan on trying our luck on the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway. You can’t beat the roads around the Smokies

If you go to NC be sure to check out The Rattler, it starts about 3 miles from my mountain home and ends in Hot Springs a great destination.
Unfortunately I’ve never driven it in my C5, can’t get the Vette up the mountain to my house without scraping all the way up...did drive it several times in my C43 and C55 AMGs, its a blast.
Thanks for the great ideas. We normaly stay in a cabin in Bryson City which is pretty central to all of the great roads in the smokey mountains. We are considering Key West but don't like all of the Florida traffic. There is still time to decide, we usually go in late October or early November, but you have to make cabin reservations early if you want to get a good one.
There is a corvette drive called Tail of the Dragon that is in Mid October that goes up through Kentucky and ends at the Corvette museum. Was told that there will be about 800 corvettes participating. Jim
South Dakota! There is a summer gathering of corvettes, several hundred of them at Sioux Falls and they travel all the way across the state to the Black Hills and hang out there and see the sights. Very curvy roads and possible some very different scenery than what you are accustomed to.
We decided to go back to Bryson City so we can do the Tail of the Dragon again. We really do love it up there and went with a little nicer cabin this year so it should be lots of fun. We also decided to go in mid October hoping the weather will be dryer than last year. Maybe next year we will hit South Dakota, I have always wanted to go to Mt. Rushmore. Thanks again for all of the ideas.
I’ll chime in too for Tail of the Dragon! That portion of US 129 is gorgeous. 318 turns in 11 miles! The surrounding areas of TN and NC have beautiful forests, hills, lakes, and rivers. I just went again last Saturday. Totally worth it if you’re looking for fun roads.
