I dont know if this has been posted before but I've been looking at exhaust for my 01 Z06 and have decided on the Corsa extreme. Do I need to purchase the x pipe like I've been reading in the notes and descriptions of can I use the factory h pipe
I’ve got the Sport on my coupe and I’m thinking about an X pipe. I had an ‘02 Z, and FWIW, tho’ the tips on the Titanium exhaust are not as pretty as aftermarket, you really can’t get a better axle back and the fact that it weight half of what others weigh is another reason GM installed it.
You can use the factory h-pipe but keep in mind it's not really an h-pipe.
That crossover conceals the holes in each pipe are only the diameter of a pencil. The crossover is meant to hold the pipes together so it's easy to handle on the assembly line.
Get the aftermarket x-pipe because it blends the exhaust note (sounds much better) because the stock setup is basically like two duals and has more of motorboat "blub blub blub" sound. Sucks.
My thing is it's just to darn quiet and I dont have the $$$ to do headers and other stuff like that since I need a tune and such when it comes to that
If you run across any threads discussing the similar question you will see more than a few people coupled headers and other ‘front of the car’ mods with the Ti exhaust, and many ended up too loud with one of the louder aftermarket exhausts and ‘went back’ to the Ti.
Josh is right on about the sound (or lack of) effect of the H-pipe, tho’ I just saw a cut one exposing the holes and they seem to be a bit bigger than a pencil. Doesn’t matter either way, since I do have the ‘blub blub’ sound and am leaning heavily towards the x pipe.

as stated above it will work, personally I would pass on the x for now until you are ready to do headers because most systems come with an x-pipe already included as part of the system and it will all bolt together seamlessly and nothing will be hacked together... if you absolutely never plan on doing headers then go ahead and do the x-pipe, it sounds much better in my opinion... it will get rid of the gurgling motor boat sound and tends to have a more raspy/pop sound to it

You can use the factory H-pipe with the Corsa catback, but I would recommend getting an X-pipe if the budget allows just for the better exhaust flow and a better exhaust note from the mufflers.
I've got the Corsa extreme and love them, but at times it does sound like a motorboat. The car is getting an intake, headers, x-pipe and dyno tune by Phoenix Performance, so the motorboat sounds will be gone now. That was mostly at low RPM, it sounds killer on hard acceleration or WOT. I did the calculation, and the claimed HP gains would far offset the added weight, so even if the claimed HP gain was lower, it would still add to performance.
I'm running Corsa Extreme' s on my Z with their x-pipe along with factory manifolds/converters and it sounds awesome. I can imagine it being quite a bit louder with LT's, but I live in CA and can't have headers, so I'm happy with the sound.
