Just put on a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. Very quiet and great grip. Two of them even balanced out with no weights. Best of all $504.06 shipped to my location for all four.

I am looking for new wheels and tires for my 2000. I have read good reviews about these tires. Glad to hear it from someone that bought them. Tire rack has them (stock 17/18's) for $394.38 shipped to me. Bell tire has the rims a may buy so tomorrow if I like the rims we will talk tires. I don't know if they can get the Firestone or not. Will find out tomorrow.

You have lots of choices on Tire Rack:

If you want great grip and low noise, I recommend the Pilot Super Sports

I currently have and recommend the BF Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 high performance summer tires. They are non run flat tires and are made by Michelin. They are quiet and have great dry and wet traction. Another plus is that they have a great looking tread pattern and sidewall. Plus they are also one of the widest stock size tire choices.
I also recommend Nitto 555 Extreme and Kumho Ecsta from previous experience.

I run a set of Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires on my ‘03 and love them. May want to check them out before purchasing tires.

Hey Blackbear Bob.....did you find a local tire dealer that would mount them for a reasonable fee? That's the one reservation I have about ordering from Tire Rack. Thanks for the recommendation!

Just got my Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 from Tire rack for my 2004 convertible. $504 delivered and a $60 rebate off that.
Local Installer that Tire rack recommends will mount, Balance with new valve stems and dispose of old for $75 ( I have used them on other Tirerack purchases).
Been busy with Holiday weekend stuff and have not got them put on yet. Can't wait since I am taking off some 12 year old all season Kuhmos that are as hard as a Hockey Puck.
VH
Update 6-2-2018: Finally got the new Firestones installed. I pulled off the old tires and rims I could get the inside of the rims cleaned up. Put the old and the new ones in the back of the Silverado and dropped them at the Installer. After getting them back and installed went for a quick ride and everything felt and sounded great. The old Kuhmos were pretty loud. I like the way they look and seem to have a lot of water channels to help in a hard rain.

I just bought (order) 4 Uniroyal Tiger Paws for my 02 vert from Wal-Mart they have a tread wear of 400. Had them installed/lifetime balance all for $525. I have been very happy with them.

Life is too short to deal with Tire Rack. Their recommended installer in my home town wanted a lot more money than their advertised price from their web site. Now I use Tire Rack for a price reference and can usually get a local supplier to meet or beat their price. Buy local and avoid big shipping chargers also.

A lot of guys run the Hankook Ventus V12s mentioned above. I've had quite a few sets on other cars but not on the C5. They are great street tires. The sidewalls were too soft more spirited use (especially autocross) in my opinion- they would fold over with an audible "fump" without way too high of pressures.

The Nitto 555 G2s I have on the C5 now are great street tires. Drove to from PA to KY and to the outer banks NC last year plus 8 autocrosses.

Great street tires. Excellent in the wet. I hit some low spots on the PA turnpike with standing water at highway speeds and no issues. I would have died on the old worn out Pilot sports I had just taken off the car.
We even hit cold and snow on the way home. No- I would never drive these in actual snow but they didn't turn into flintstone tires at 20 degrees either.

Better sidewalls for autocross but definitely not the right tire for that. Nowhere near the grip levels of a Rival or similar.

The Nittos are actually available on amazon (yeah, amazon sells tires....) They came in with very recent build dates too.
