Hardest part is figuring out where it is and how you're going to ziptie it. It's a 2 on the difficulty scale. Make sure you support the rear well so you don't die.
No problems with longevity, mine been on for at least 15 years.
Mine went on in 2005, shortly after picking up my C5. Same thing in late 2007 with our C6 (rip, 2017).
There's nothing really to go wrong -- it's just a resistor that tricks the computer into believing the tranny solenoid is present. There's no high current, so no chance of burning out the resistor. Install and forget about it.

When I had my 6-speed cars the skip shift eliminator was one of the very first mods I did. Easy to do and not all that expensive. Never had a problem after the install.
If it doesn’t rain today I will go for it. My wife wants to drive the car but the 1 to 4 screws her up and goes for 2nd gear and says it won’t shift there’s something wrong. Maybe I should just leave it in and she won’t drive it. thank you everyone for your input. Have a great day.

Thanks for the reminder, just ordered it. In my old ZR-1 I just unplugged the solenoid and tied it up, but haven't done it yet in the C5 and it pisses me off every time I run into it.
I can't believe how many C5s I see for sale that still don't have this. Who could stand to drive an M6 for that long with the stupid skip shift? That would drive me nuts!

I see no need for it..........thus I've never done the "mod". I just wind out a bit in first and all is well. The very, very few times it does go 1st to 4th it presents no problem. But that is just me. Nothing against the skip shift mod, I just don't need it.
Just installed the skip shift today. It’s great. No more worrying about shifting into 2nd and not having the RPM’s. Thank you everyone for your input. One thing I have to say is that I disconnected the battery before installing. I had to reprogram my key fab by holding the lock and unblock down at same time until the car beeped after hooking battery back up.
