The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on my recently purchased 03 have date codes of 3812....so they are now 6 years old....tons of tread left on them but noticed some cracking in the outer treads....time to replace.
I love the Hankook Ventus V12's (great tires) but want to stick with run flats. I'm in CA and she will be driven mainly in dry weather, so I'm debating whether I need an all season or just a summer tire. Looking on the TireRack site, they only have the following 2 options for the run flat tires. Which ones has the CF community used (if any) and what are your opinions on them. Also, are there any other run flat options available?
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZP (W- or Y-Speed Rated)
Michelin. After I wore out the OEMs on my C5, I put A/S and A/S 2 ZP series on it.
several sets and 118k miles later...no complaints.
Recently put A/S 3 ZPs on the front of my C7. No complaints there, either.
I've used goodyear eagles on other cars.
Stick well, but wear very quickly, and get noisy past 1/2 life.
Thanks for the input...and they are cheaper than the Goodyear's to boot! How is the drive/handling and what's been your average mileage per set? My current tires are quite loud....maybe due to their age as well.
Ive had my C5 for 18 years... 118k...I put the last set on a year ago, but only have about 3k on them, so lets say 115k,,,oems might have lasted 20... 95k...
I’ll estimate somewhere between 30 and 40 per set.
They seemed to wear evenly front to rear
Outside and inside wore worse than center (not an inflation problem) seems like the outer and inner tread isn’t as deep as the center.
My vote is for the Michelin also.
I currently have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP that I got a great deal on; otherwise, I would have used the A/S 3+ ZP.
