Default Tire question?

I just bought 2 indy 500 tires 275/35/18..and thought they would work with my stock 18x10.5..but the tire is to small for the wheel. Will a 285/35/18 correct this? I tried the stock 295 tire on the front and it stuck out of the fender alittle..it didnt look that bad. Is the 285 better or should i go 295? These tires are in the f/s section. Thanks jim

While the 285 will work on a 10.5" wheel, my sense is a 295 would be the optimum size insofar as how the tire fit/related to the wheel lip. I think what you observed with your experiment (putting the 295 on the front) is more a function of the wheel's offset. I will caveat this by saying I don't know if a 295 might rub at full lock regardless of the wheel offset. Good luck whatever you decide.
