Park 50 feet from everyone else and someone still manages to back into me. Bad part is, they left like it never happened so I’m stuck with my deductible

sorry @ss people... it could have been a lot worse, it just looks like you will need another bumper and the foam behind it... you could probably fix it pretty cheap without going through insurance
Looks like it might have gotten hit by one of those trailer hitches that stick out about a foot from the rear bumper. But you can bet they KNEW they backed into your car.

I could probably find a takeoff bumper and have it painted. I might use the opportunity to replace it with a custom bumper. A Duraflex or Shark. I know a lot of AE owner will think that’s a cardinal sin, but probably wouldn’t hurt the value, may even seem unique to others

Looks like trailer hitch.
Some people backup by ‘feel’.
Happened to me a couple months back to my truck. Someone backed out across a double lane driveway in a grocery store parking lot, and clipped my driver side rear corner of my bumper. Store had no outside cameras.
I always look for a parking spot on perimeter and back/pull in for this very reason. Trucks with the bumper hitches, mini vans and crossovers with rear lift gates, etc.
I understand that accidents happen, but leaving like that is pretty low thing to do.

Put the correct bumper cover on or have that one fixed. Putting aftermarket custom parts on it is like adding a big sign that your vehicle was previously in an accident.

Or, you know, putting aftermarket custom parts on could also be because you simply wanted to put aftermarket custom parts on your vehicle. If the OP would rather have a TS bumper or whatever, now is the time to do it.

Ouch.
Maybe not.
As a hit and run, the “uninsured motorist” clause might make it a zero deductible claim.
A least, that’s the way the UM clause in my policy works.

Years ago I bought a '69 vert project that was wrecked and half put back together with a mako shark nose. I finished the project long before there were salvage titles. Everyone who saw the car assumed it was previously wrecked. No one would take a perfectly good car and add that crap to it. Same concept here.
