I picked up a 2003 EB Z06 yesterday that i will be using primarily as a track car. All throughout the period from 2000-2009 I had a handful of C4's, C5's both base and Z06 and C6's both Base and Z06 again.
I left to try out other stuff and have been using a 360 Modena as my weekend car for the last 4 years and picked up a 93 NSX that I've been tracking. The NSX was too nice in condition and the values went up to much to make me comfortable tracking it anymore so the search for a track car started 2 weeks ago
I decided the C5 Z06 would be the best bang for buck platform to use and also the cheapest to maintain. I looked at both low mileage salvage titled cars and high mileage clean title ones and settled in on a high mileage (138k) but in perfect mechanical condition with honestly an interior that is mind outside of a little drivers bolster wear for $11.5 here in the Los Angeles area where there are a ton for sale. I am going to respray the front bumper and the color correct the whole car next week and the outside will be a solid 8 to 9 of 10
It had been almost 10 years since i drove a vette and I forgot how much torque these C5 Z's had and also how much different it is driving a large front engined sports car vs mid engined exotics.
I'm excited to get some seat time in it and get used to it. The vale spring and radiator were just replaced. Anything else to look out for. Shes getting new rubber tomorrow and a FULL fluid swap next week.
Glad to be back. I'm keeping the 360 for non track fun and i sold the NSX. Hoping to be here for a while.
