I need to replace all bushings on my 2003 z06 with 138k miles. What is the best near factory replacement. What do I need. I want to order asap. Can't take the creaking anymore
I've been considering doing this to my car at 159k miles. I've been considering some of the newest polyurethane bushings that have been improved concerning the squeaking issues. I have no squeaking from the stock bushings but I think the handling is getting a little mushy and less precise. Then again, it could just be me. I also put on new tires and wheels recently, could be that too.
My rear ones were squeaking, tech kept spraying them with lube but to no avail. He said he had once replaced with poly ones and they started squeaking so I went with OEM. Front sway bar also had once gone dry and no OEM readily available so used aftermarket (I guess poly) and so far no problem.
Just replaced all of the control arm bushings on my car at 135,000 miles. I had the shop install Delrin bushings from Borg Motorsports. I have not driven the car yet, so cannot comment on how it drives or squeakiness of the bushings, but will once I drive it.
I installed the Pfadt C5/C6 control arm poly bushing kit.($495) on my 98 last month. I also had to purchase a ball joint separator with at least a 2 and a1/4" arm spread for the lower joints. There were some excellant videos on YouTube that really helped especially from Froggy. With the bushing and new shocks install the steering and suspension really tightened up.
Unfortunately, the only way to get factory replacements is to buy new control arms, so no, you aren't missing anything. You might be able to make a post in the for sale forum and see if anyone pressed out their bushings in a usable condition to install Delrin or sphericals. It's a long shot, but it might be worth it if you want as close to factory NVH as possible.
There's a thread here that discusses people's opinions on NVH of Delrin bushings. Might be worth a look to see if any of the comments give you a better idea of the NVH levels of the various kits.
