I've had a puncture on my Vette with non run flats. I was able to drive 100 miles to get home. I had to stop a few times to put air in the tire. The puncture was through the side wall so it was unrepairable.
I do have non runflat Bridgestone Potenza summer tires on my convertible. Just got back from a thousand mile road trip today. They have 25,000 miles on them. I carry 2 cans of sealer/inflator and I monitor tire pressure every so often. I have used fix a flat a half dozen times in the last 30 years on various vehicles without a problem. Got me out of a jam and safely home every time.
I just had Michelin run-flats installed on my 2001 convertible for $974 complete out the door, including Minnesota's 7.125% sales tax. I purchased them thru Costco and their installation included re-building the tpms, filling them with nitrogen, wheel balancing, free wheel balancing for the life of the tire, free nitrogen purging and refilling for the life of the tire, old tire disposal, etc. This price included the $70 Michelin rebate and $60 for taking out a Costco charge card, which my wife wanted anyway.
I replaced Michelin run-flats simply because they were 10 years old. I love the ride/performance of the Michelins and those degrading the ride and high price I would disagree with.
This is a very controversial topic on this Forum and I don't wish to argue the point, I'm simply passing on my recent purchase.

Woah. Under a grand? Did you have to call them to special order?
I don't care if this is a controversial topic. I always find those people who get all salty hilarious.
We are all entitled to our opinion. I wouldn't force you to do anything to your car, and as long as you don't force me to do anything to mine, we can be pals.
I have run flat michies on the car now. Of Costco would do all 4 for under a grand, I'd seriously consider it .
The way I see it now, I'm looking at $700-$800 for non run flats.
Thanks for adding to the conversation. I appreciate it.
30,000 (hard) miles on 2 sets of Hankook Ventus V12 tires. Never had a puncture, I'll never go back to the awful runflats. My wife might have AAA, don't recall. Carry a cell phone and a can of the slime, maybe a portable air compressor.
40,000 miles + on my Hankooks with never a problem. I figure to get another 10,000 or so, and then it will be time to replace them. Yes, I have a compressor and goo, but I've never used them.

Many years ago I switched from runflats to non-runflats and have never regretted the decision. When I had runflats I did have two tires that got punctured (both at the same time) and yes, the runflats helped me get home. But since I have had my non-runflats, I have not had a puncture. I do carry a plug kit and a small air compressor in the car now just in case I have a tire puncture. I also have a cell phone and emergency road service on my insurance policy.
My current tires are Hankook Ventus V12 EVOs and I am extremely pleased with them.
Have a set of the Michelin run flats on one set of rims and a set of Michelin pilot sport as3+ on another paid $821.94 out the door for the as3+ much better feel with them no flats with around 10k miles. Carry a small compressor. If I really need a tire fix will call the wife and get her to bring me a spare from home.

Yes, I did need to special order them. The store called me within 4-5 days to tell me they were in. My brother-in-law ordered rears for his 2002 coupe at the same time from Costco.
I was concerned that Costco could install the run-flats but they assured me that if they sell them, they service them and had just put some on a Porsche Carrera recently. They did a great job and before I ordered the tires from Costco I had read in Consumer Reports that they were rated best in tire sales and service. After my experience I would concur with that rating!
I used 2 sets of GY eagle f1 d3 runflats. That v shape or tigger claw and i did like them. Did 140 mph with them a bunch of times, drove in pouring rain with them.
Had a few punctures & warranty covered each one.
Now that i use all season tires and it dont rain much here, i just want to be ready. However, the price was really a killing for me. Gone through more tires than brakes and i still havent change brakes yet.
I really like the grip on the all seasons from GY EAGLE F1 NON RUNFLAT & bf gforce 2 a/s which i have now.
I carry an air compressor, a plug kit, and a phone number to call in a flatbed if needed.
You are about 2 tire changes behind with 13 year old tires. I'm surprised you haven't wrecked the thing yet on rock hard run flats. I doubt you are getting anywhere near 1/4 the performance the car is capable of.

I had rock-hard 18 year-old runflats on my car and it was a terrible experience. Last week I put some Uniroyal Tiger Paw All-Season radials on the car and it is literally like a new car. I have an electric air pump and will be purchasing a TPMS safe sealant.
Blowout-style flats are very rare these days. I haven't had one on any vehicle I've driven for years where a runflat would have worked (I have managed to hit some curbs in my old Fusion; no run-flat can fix my gross incompetence in such an occurrence, LOL).
