Long (or even mid) tube headers.
Stock cats flow well enough, but with the age and difficulty for with headers I opted for Magnaflow cats.
X pipe in theory adds some (minor!) power, but this is more about better (less motor boat) sound.
Mufflers are about sound.
Headers. As above the only real gain will be from headers while the mufflers are about sound. If you want to get fancy get a set of TI mufflers. They sound pretty good.
We offer a few catback systems for the C5 that will free up some extra power and shave weight off. What year is your Vette and what type of sound were you looking for?
I went with quad tip LG Big 3’s but the tips came welded crooked. So I had my muffler guy remove two and bring two to the middle close together. It was too quiet so I had him bypass with 1 inch pipe.
Coupled with 1 7/8 LG Long tubes no cats.
I like the Billy Boat PRTs. Great sound at start up and when idling, but relatively quiet when cruising with no drone. We're running Kooks 1 3/4" headers and their x-pipe to the PRTs.
TPS 1 7/8" LTs with Catted X, and OE Z06 Titanium axle back mufflers.
TPS Headers are USA Made fit great, at a great price.
The OE Ti are light, quiet at cruise, and flow great up to ~ 500 RWHP,
and are often around $300-350 on forums & CL.
Best Bang for dollar.
