Thank You all for your kind words. Well I've already started the process of getting my new ride on the road to being beautiful. I installed a new/used steering wheel which was a unbelievable task. I pulled the new wheel without any problems but when it came to taking mine off it was a real buster. The puller straighten out one of the new legs on the first few tries. With a new set of legs I figured it would go easier WRONG! I ended up drilling around the center of the hub then splitting the center with a chisel. I did this with great care and didn't damage the splines. I touched up the splines anyway hoping that by doing so the replacement wheel would go on without any problems. I'm proud to say that everything went as planned and a twenty minutes job turned into a day ended with a beautiful new wheel with no damage! Whew! In over 35 years of being a certified mechanic I have never run into anything like this and I hope that it's another 35 years before I have to go through this again!
Installation of the new defroster grill and HUD bezel we're pretty much what I expected and again it's looking great inside. I just have the console and armrest to finish up as far as purchasing new parts and then the driver's seat which I think is just a matter of restiching a seam. If not I'll be looking for new covers. I hope that I'm in the right section of the site to post all this as I'm still not used to the forum yet. Thanks again everyone and I will continue to post my quest to make my baby like new again. Till next time best regards to all.
Congratulations on your Corvette!
Pulling your wheel sounded like a monster. Usually, these go very smoothly with the steering wheel puller.
Agree with Vetteman Jack - would enjoy pics when you can.
Enjoy your ride!
