Default Looking for a short shift lever

Hello folks. I'm the new owner of a gorgeous '99 C5 (my first) and I absolutely love her.... except for the tall shift lever. I've had a few F Body cars before and had the same issue, but with them I was able to just swap out the lever without replacing the whole shift box. I have searched high and low for something similar for a C5, but can't seem to find one. And I'm concerned that a short throw shifter will have the same problem. So I figured I'd ask the folks that have a bit more experience.

Once again, I only want to change the shifter HEIGHT, not necessarily the throw.

Well, changing the height automatically changes the throw, geometry dictates that.

I installed an MGW, kept the factory lower box (low mileage car, not worn out), and did the antivenom mod. One of the best mods I've done.

Just cut the gear lever down and extend the threads - 9/16 x 18 tpi die needed. Then buy s shift **** of your choice - I'm running a black Hurst cue ball, which incidentally was the most expensive part of the job.

I had a c6 Shifter installed. Looks and feels much better than stock. Still need to do the anti venom mod.

TPS Motorsports, a forum vendor, sells a C6 Z06 shifter threaded for a C5 shift **** that’s nice and reasonably priced. I’d suggest getting the stock shifter box rebuilt by TMODCUSTOMS, another vendor. It only costs $125 and it eliminates any shifter box related issues. As others have suggested, do the “Anti-Venom” mod and then you’ll be all set.

Welcome to the club! My first was 99 as well. One of the things that is different between the f-bodies and the corvettes is the way shifter is mounted. It's mounted to the torque tube on the vette, and used a lower box. This is the first thing I recommend you upgrade. I'll PM you a link to my thread you can read about it if you would like, let me know. The reason I'm telling you this isn't just because I sell upgraded boxes, but I wanted to tell you that if you wanted to get your box done I can shorten that shaft up for you as well. It's a threaded shaft with a key way in it to hold the stock **** straight. If you want I can make you a delrin **** and shorten the shaft, that's what I did on my C5, or I can put a lower key way in it if you want to use the factory ****.

Let me know if your interested, I'm happy to answer anything I can.

Thanks for all the great advice, guys. I'm going to have to sort through it and figure out which is best for me, but I'll let you all know what I decided to go with. Once again, thanks for the help
