The Sears near me is going out of business - I swung by the auto section and asked about batteries. They had one of these babies left - listed at $180 - and I got 25% off on that. When I heard it was gel that sealed the deal....
JUNK! I had one. It was garbage. I have dumped ALL of my Die-Hard batteries. Their battery quality went out the window years ago. Don't keep your hopes up.

Well that aughta make the OP feel good about his purchase. LOL
I will say tho, if they're going out of biz, and the battery kicks it... no warranty if no store.
I'm on my second Die Hard Gold AGM battery. The first one failed after a couple of years and Sears replaced it for.....the tax 2 or 3 dollars. The replacement is several years old. Great battery that HAD a great guarantee.
Like many battery brands Diehards, I do believe, are manufactured by Johnson Controls. They should be as good as any other. It is an AGM battery not a Gel battery. There is a difference.
DIE HARD is a marketing name. Sears makes nothing. If you need a new battery and it's cheaper than Walmart buy it. You don't need an expensive battery to start a Chevy V8 but your ego may. Some want a fancy looking battery for the car show, good for them.

I currently have a Diehard Platinum battery in my C5 and it has been rock solid for the nearly 8 years I have had it. Just like any other battery, there can be lemons out there. It sounds like the OP got a great deal on a new battery and hopefully yours will last at least as long as mine has.
I have been running a DieHard Platinum Size 34/78DT Battery since 2011.Never had any issues but i do keep on a tender when not driving. One item you need to beware of is the RC of any battery, especially for cars such as Corvettes that have a ton of electronics and may only be fair weather driven.A good tender is a must.

They are/were excellent batteries. Mine's been in since 2007 or so. Never been on a tender, holds charge for a long time, even with the C5's drain. Going to be a challenge to replace it, now that Sears dropped them - and of course many Sears stores are no more. Our local Sears Auto store is now a chain restaurant......

I think the "Gold" AGM's are East Penn/Deko batteries. The old Platinum was an Enersys Odyssey - which you can still buy, sans the great Sears warranty.
I have a going-on nine year old DieHard Platinum. It's going to be a sad day when I have to replace it.
My only concern would be what someone mentioned above; if Sears is going to completely kick the bucket soon you might want to check on what the warranty is for the battery. 25% off sounds great until you have to try and file a warranty claim with a non-existent entity.
8 year old, 7, 6, even 4 year old DieHards were GOOD STUFF, and that's WHY some of them are still around.
Everything sold NEW in the past couple of years has been GARBAGE. Sears is on it's last leg, if you haven't noticed. Hell, RETAIL is barely hanging in there altogether.
I'm happy the Craftsman brand was sold off, but NOT happy about who bought it.
The only thing that I brag about that I own, that came from Sears is the Rotory 14K lbs. 4-post lift I bought from a closed up Sears Auto Service Center.

You bring up a good point - I should go back there and sniff around the garage area....
I got screwed by Sears a few years ago (long story) and swore I'd never buy anything from them again, ever. That was 2012. I haven't lost any sleep watching that once great retailer go slowly down the tubes. I haven't been in a K-Mart either. Off my soap box.
