Default Seat Bolster Wear

Hi all. As I'm new to Vette ownership, I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction.

it appears that our friends at GM upholstered the seats on our C5s with kitten skin or something like that because I'm getting a not-insignificant amount of wear on my side bolster after a pretty short time. I was wondering if anyone made seat covers for these cars that are a little more robust. I'm considering getting the seats reupholstered as a preventive measure...ideally in the same kind of leather they use in BMWs...which, i think, comes from rhinos who have spent too much time in the Sun.

Its ONLY 14 years old, and it just started to wear since you just got it...hmmmm.

Everyone wants Champagne quality for beer price, then wonder ‘what happen grasshopper’!

If you want to play, you’ve got to pay. All depends how much.

We offer three types of leather, synthetic, genuine and nappa. Here you can look at patterns/colors/prices for C5 Seat Covers.

You can also call us at 317-516-5962 to get more info or order.

Thanks

The side bolster wear on the C5 seats is a very common problem. There are several forum vendors that offer better quality leather seat covers that will minimize the wear on the bolsters. Plus you can help by adjusting how you get into/out of the car - avoid sliding across the bolster area as much as possible.

My seats are the GT’s which are ‘one piece shell seats’.

I took my seat out and brought it to an upholstery shop, they sewed in a new panel and changed me 100 dollars. You couldn't tell it was a repair looked new......

I had a mobile upholstery unit come by my work and repair during. I definitely can't see any difference.

I took mine to an Upholstery shop and they replaced mine with a Faux leather bolster. I can't tell the difference at all, and he says it should last a lot longer than real leather in that area.
He charged me $75 to do the bolster.
